Roll Cart Recycling - Plastics at the Curb

Expanded Plastics Collection

Residents with roll cart recycling will enjoy the added volume, as well as an expanded list of accepted plastics in curbside collection.  Learn what items can be recycled at the curb and options for those that are not accepted at the curb.

 

ACCEPTED? YES!

  • Rigid plastic containers and bottles including

  • bottles, containers, and tubs 6 oz. or larger

  • milk containers - do not crush or flatten

  • margarine/butter/yogurt/cottage cheese tubs

  • rigid buckets 5-gallons or less - with/without a handle

  • rigid plastic plant pots 4" or larger

 

Preparation Instructions:

With all items, rinse clean and let air dry. Labels OK. Set recyclables in your roll cart and roll it to the curb on your scheduled recycling for collection day.

 

 

ACCEPTED? NO*!

  • Grocery sacks, drycleaner/newspaper bags, sandwich or, zipper bags, films, or bubble wrap.

  • Blister packaging - tough, clear, molded plastic packaging

  • Take-out food containers or clear deli/bakery clamshell containers

  • Individual serving containers smaller than 6 oz.

  • Disposable plastic plates, utensils, trays, dishes, or cups

  • Flat plastic tub or beverage lids or trays

  • Styrofoam - block or peanuts - Call Metro's Recycling Information hotline to "Find a Recycler" 503-234-3000

  • Seedling trays or plant pots that crinkle

  • Children's toys, large plastic items (kid pools, patio chairs, laundry baskets, etc.)

  • Bottles that once contained hazardous products or oil.

*Many plastics not accepted in your curbside roll cart can be recycled at local depots and plastics collection events.
